flatsforfriendz started as an Instagram account helping people find and share rooms and flat listings via stories. The idea quickly resonated, growing into a 60k+ strong community centered around trust, speed, and a more human approach to housing search.

THE CHALLENGE
As the community kept growing, Instagram’s limitations became clear: no search, no filtering, no structured reposting. Users needed more - and so did the platform. To scale the experience and support growing demand, flatsforfriendz needed to become a real product. That meant launching a standalone web app that could turn story-driven discovery into a seamless, searchable housing platform — without losing the community-first vibe.

OUR WORK
Brought on as the first Product Manager, Juli led the zero-to-one launch of the flatsforfriendz web app. Working closely with founder Alex, she defined the product strategy, owned the roadmap, and prioritized core features that balanced user needs with fast execution.
From early discovery to delivery, she owned the UX and UI direction, translated community insights into intuitive product flows, and helped shape the visual brand across app and website. Her focus was to preserve the trust and energy of the community while making the product feel intuitive and fun to use.
Through iterative development, continuous user feedback loops, and data-informed decisions, she laid the foundation for user engagement and monetization — supporting the platform’s transition from Instagram account to scalable product.
The result: strong traction driven by intuitive UX and community-focused features, with over 10,000 users in the first two months, more than 20,000 users across platforms by the end of the collaboration, and 8,000+ active listings. flatsforfriendz successfully evolved from a well-known Instagram account into a revenue-generating product — without losing its soul.
